Richard 'Dick' Tanner was awarded the MBE for his work in tanker conversion for the RAF during the Falklands War. His career started before the end of World War II -'mending Spitfires' as an aircraft apprentice. He joined Sir Alan Cobhams's team in 1949 and worked in this specialised area of aviation until his retirement. Dick has had access to all In-flight Refuelling's archives and has produced what will be the most authoritative and informative book on this subject to have been published anywhere in the world.
